FISTF Yorkshire Satellite - Wakefield - 31st July 2010

Postby Gary » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:05 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Yorkshire Phoenix would like to invite you all to their FISTF Satellite event to be held at the Wakefield Wildcats stadium on Saturday 31st July.

There will be Open, Veterans and (subject to numbers) Under 19s categories.

Website can be found at http://www.yorkshiresatellite.co.uk

I would prefer if the signups for this event is done via the tournament website as this is a test for next seasons organisation of ESTFA tournaments.

Once you have signed up you will be returned to the home page and your entry should then show in the list of entrants. Please let me know if it doesn't or there are other problems with the site.

We look forward to seeing you all there

Gary

I'd like to pop up for this Gary but I'm really not sure I can make it.
Problem is that neither Monkey nor Dacey can play in a satelite so I'd struggle to car share.
Sorry mate.

Hi Gary

What time does the event start and do you have to be an ESTFA member to play?

Thanks

Victor

We are aiming for a 9.30 flick off and I have been told by Mike that for this season the ESTFA membership is NOT required to play in the tournaments but he also politely reminds everyone that next year it will be a requirement

yes I know you did Martin and it was your entry that broke the site!!!

Basically it did not like me adding rankings to the table so created a new one when the next person signed up.

All sorted now so I expect the rush of entries to flood in now :)

Probably a dumb question, but how do I become a ESTFA member?

We currently have 12 entrants in the Open, 3 entrants in the vets and 4 entrants in the Under 19s.

Open

Gary Pearson Yorkshire Phoenix
Paul Lawrenson Yorkshire Phoenix
Kcarrie Valentine Yorkshire Phoenix
Mark Farrell IPL
Mike Parnaby NETFA Teesside
Kevin Adderley Yorkshire Phoenix
Philip Townsend Kent Invicta
Stathis Tsolis Yorkshire Phoenix
Matt Thomas NETFA Teesside
John Devaney Lincoln Flickers Subbuteo Club
Zoran Higgins Kent Invicta
Neil Munns Yorkshire Phoenix

Vets

Martin Hodds Yorkshire Phoenix
Stuart McIlroy Yorkshire Phoenix
Adrian Curtis Yorkshire Phoenix

Under 19

Samuel Curtis Yorkshire Phoenix
Matthew Parnaby NETFA Teesside
Coen Townsend Kent Invicta
Harry Pearson Yorkshire Phoenix

As things stand if we get up to 16 entrants in the Open it will groups of 4, top 2 through, bottom 2 into the plate.

The vets will be one group if its 5 or under, especially if people are playing in both categories as has been asked and under 19s will also be one group

Go to http://www.yorkshiresatellite.co.uk if you want to sign up

Currently the players are in ranking order but these are the rankings for end of MAY not June as they still have not been published yet. I know there is possibly other people willing to play but dependant on where they are ranked they may not be allowed to. I am going to try to get in touch with FISTF and find out if rankings are going to be produced this month or if we take the May ones as the ones we use. I dont want to do that as I know it will make a big difference in seedings

With just over a week to go before the event I have had confirmation from FISTF that we will be using the MAY rankings for this event and not the June ones (as they will be produced days before the event and could affect possible entries).

With this in mind that means the rankings shown on the website are the ones that will be used for seeding purposes.

Here is the list of current entries

Code: Select all
Open
Name              Club              Nationality Ranking
Gary Pearson      Yorkshire Phoenix English     247
Paul Lawrenson    Yorkshire Phoenix English     279
Kcarrie Valentine Yorkshire Phoenix Scottish    339
Mark Farrell      IPL               Irish       362
Mike Parnaby      NETFA Teesside    English     418
Kevin Adderley    Yorkshire Phoenix British     428
Philip Townsend   Kent Invicta      English     538
Stathis Tsolis    Yorkshire Phoenix Greek       683
Matt Thomas       NETFA Teesside    English     722
John Devaney      None              British     920
Zoran Higgins     Kent Invicta      British     N/A
Neil Munns        Yorkshire Phoenix English     N/A
Code: Select all
Vets
Name              Club              Nationality Ranking
Martin Hodds      Yorkshire Phoenix English     45
Stuart McIlroy    Yorkshire Phoenix N. Ireland  88
Adrian Curtis     Yorkshire Phoenix English     723

Under 19
Name              Club              Nationality Ranking
Samuel Curtis     Yorkshire Phoenix English     105
Matthew Parnaby   NETFA Teesside    English     N/A
Coen Townsend     Kent Invicta      English     N/A
Harry Pearson     Yorkshire Phoenix English     N/A

The obvious thing here is the lack of entries in the Vets, come on guys, lets get at least one more.

Sorry but you'll have to count me out. With Phil and David ineligible I'd have to come on my own and the cheapest train fare I can find is £71.

I'll be there for the next one.
We may have lost Rudi, the 2 Chris' and Phil but at least we still have the Dominican Monk

Gary, I would happily play in the vets competition - you would have to add 5 years to my age though! It would mean more games for me.... :)

Seems quite unprofessional from FISTF if you ask me. Certain people could be denied entry (or allowed to enter when inside the top 100) simply because Freddy is away on holiday and they can't find anyone else to update the rankings.

Well I got the clearance from FISTF that we will be using the May rankings last week. I think the only person that it could have affected that may come along is Mig as I know he will be very close to top 100 after the Knighton IO win. At least this way hopefully Maria and Mig will both come up and its another 2 entrants

With 30 hours to go before the closing time for entries this is the final countdown to get your name down to play.

Entries close at 6pm tomorrow night.

In case anyone is still not sure if they should turn up or not may I just remind everyone that there is FREE food (if Jester had been coming there would have been free cake as well :))

Either sign up at www.yorkshiresatellite.co.uk or stick your name down here

3 hours to go to cut off. Anyone else want to come along?

With Sam dropping out of the under 19s that left 3 players and all of them are under 12, therefore the tournament is now an under 12 not under 19, this will mean ranking points are now available for the tournament (which there wouldnt be if it was under 19). The trophies do say u19 though
