Sad News

Postby Eoin » Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:38 pm

I just heard the sad news about Alex Higgins, my first sporting idol. I know he was fond of a pint or two like our other hero Bestie, but he didn't deserve to pass away the way he did. In complete shock, I knew he had health problems, but didn't realise they were life threatining.

RIP Alex, and may you enjoy your time up above, catching up with Bill Werbeniuk and Eddie Charlton

Ditto, was surprised to see that on Sky Sports news in the pub tonight. Me and my friends raised a glass to him. RIP.

The game would not be as it is now without Alex. he was the first to make the game exciting and watchable for a TV audience. Todays players owe a lot to him. Sadly missed. :(

It was nothing to do with drink, it was a result of the throat cancer, brought on by years of chain smoking

Thinking of cutting down on the cigarettes myself, not going to smoke too often unless I'm having a drink.

Of course, those of you that know me will realise that won't cut them down to much
